About
Heather Carine, Freelance Business Researcher.

Business runs in Heather's veins.

For over eighty years her family has owned and operated a business in Horsham, Victoria.

In 2006, Heather responded to the call to be the next Carine to run her own business. She established Carine Research to capitalise on her career as a corporate librarian, marketing advisor and knowledge manager in Australian professional service firms and Goldman Sachs in Europe.

For over ten years Heather’s research expertise has been relied on by companies preparing business proposals, looking at new business opportunities or formulating their strategic ideas.

Heather’s insight is valued by fellow information professionals, small to medium business operators, consultants and lawyers.  She writes a monthly newsletter, "Business Research Tips",  and is a regular contributor as a freelance writer to business magazines, industry journals and online publications on practical ideas for finding and managing business information.

Heather is also an experienced speaker, and is often asked to present at industry association and professional development seminars.

Heather was awarded the FUMSI  Citation (Find, Use, Manage and Share Information) in 2007 for the most useful article written for freepint.com, for her article on mentors and mentees.  She was also awarded the Myra T. Grenier Award in 2008 by the Association of Independent Information Professionals.

Heather is a member and upholds the ethics of the Association of Independent Information Professionals (AIIP).  She is also a member of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) and the Australian Law Librarians' Association.

In 2006 Heather was mentored by leading independent information professional, Amelia Kassel, on the finer points of freelance research.  Heather is now a mentor to fellow librarians in South Australia through the ALIA program.

Heather holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Business (Information Technology) from RMIT University.  In 2003 Heather was awarded the Master of Business (Information Technology) Award for Excellence from RMIT University’s School of Business for her thesis on applying knowledge management in law firm alliances.
